Chanel Iman for Harper’s Bazaar Kazakhstan

Our fav supermodel, Chanel Iman slays the September issue of Harper's Bazaar Kazakhstan in everything from Miu Miu, Prada, Versace, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Chanel, and Alexander McQueen. This Korean/Black beauty was born in Atlanta and started modeling at the age of 12. She has since taken the industry by storm with credits that span from Vogue Magazine and Victoria Secret to Alexander McQueen, Valentino and many more. Most notably, (in Spring of 2009), Chanel was the first Black model in 8 years to walk for Gucci. WOW! Known for being an advocate for diversity on the runways, Chanel's dream is for advertisers to see the value in booking models of color. This is our dream as well! She has also been involved...

Lineisy Montero in Prada Resort Campaign

Lineisy Montero, the Dominican model who became a designer favorite after her debut on the Prada runway, has taken the industry by storm! As we watched the shows this season, from New York to Paris, Lineisy was literally everywhere. She is silently becoming the new face of fashion's diversity initiative as she has rocked the runway for several designers including Balmain, Céline, Balenciaga, Coco Chanel, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and more! There has been so much controversy around the lack of cultural diversity in the fashion industry, especially in the booking of models for campaigns and runway shows. It's a breath of fresh air to see a model of color slaying the runway in her natural black afro, alongside other models who...

Welcome To My Jungle

Olivier Rousteing declared,  "I'm French, I'm black, and I'm proud to be at Balmain, but this is a message of freedom and globalism," he said. The collection, said to be a mash-up of safari chic and hip-hop style and one that embraces different ethnicities and cultures, and is reflective of his latest campaign face and new friend, Rihanna. We love it! There were cargo jackets and pants, leopard spots and zebra stripes, leather latticed with silk cord and gold chain, oversize motorcycle jackets, and electric pops of red and yellow lamb's fur, all showed on one of the most diverse castings of the season. Check out a few runway photos featuring models of color. Click any image to see full gallery. Photos:...

Naomi Campbell and Diversity Coalition Fight Against Racism in Fashion Industry

Naomi Campbell says her campaign to counter racism in fashion was inspired by Nelson Mandela,  who once dubbed her his “honorary granddaughter. “I’ve seen a huge change this season already,” Campbell said. “Giorgio Armani used four models of color in his show, and a model of color opened his show, which is something that I haven’t seen in a very long time. Jil Sander did; I’m naming names because this is a big improvement.” Last September, she lent support to the advocacy group, Diversity Coalition, that calls out high-profile designers who either did not use models of color at all in their fall fashion week shows, or only sent one down their catwalks. Set up by former model agent Bethann Hardison, the...
